Mind the Drop
After spending time at open decks across Naarm/Melbourne, I found myself drifting between the dance floor and deep conversations with DJs and artists about their journeys behind the scenes.
Across those discussions, common threads kept emerging: mental health, burnout, reinvention, parenthood, and identity. As a new DJ in my late thirties (and a parent myself) I’m curious about what Artistry : Life really looks like within our community.
The show also aims to create space to question long-held stereotypes around electronic music, such as the assumption that drug culture is stitched into the fabric of the scene. From artists embracing sobriety to those reshaping touring schedules to prioritise health, sustainability, and longevity, Mind The Drop is a platform to explore the many ways rave culture is evolving.
How does a career in music grow alongside other responsibilities, like parenting?
How do we protect our physical and mental wellbeing in a late-night industry?
What needs to shift to create more diversity and inclusivity within the scene?
If these questions resonate with you, I’d love you to join the conversation.
Expect thoughtful discussions, honest stories, and diverse perspectives - exploring the lives that exist beyond the drop.
